New Vision Display Has Been Granted US Patent Entitled “Heater for Liquid Crystal Display”
New Vision Display has been granted US patent 8,525,955 entitled “Heater for Liquid Crystal Display”. The inventor, NVD’s Vice President of Engineering, Dr. Ding Hua Long, received the patent for his invention of how to implement a heater in liquid crystal display modules for better low temperature performance. The basic idea of the patent is to create a heater element based on transparent conductive layers on a non-birefringent substrate and laminate the heater element directly to the display element either onto the rear polarizer or between polarizer and rear substrate. The advantage over typical heated LCD module designs which have an air gap between display cell and heater element is better thermal coupling and better optical performance. In addition, the new invention allows the heater element to be used with polarization recovery type backlights.
